Portrait Basics

http://www.cambridgestudiogallery.com.au/back-to-the-studio1.html

This class is groundwork to better a understanding of form, strengthening observational skills, and looking at the face as basic geometric shapes and structure upon which all else hinges.

The focus will be on portrait proportions and planes whilst drawing/painting from a plaster cast - beginning with warm-ups and several sketches as the basis for a tonal painting in oils. The goal: for drawing to be like an armature for tonal work, which in turn is an armature for facial features and working with colour.

Class Size: 10 people

'Yvette's painting classes were brilliant. I learnt a lot about and was able to practice using the materials and techniques of oil painting. But more importantly, I felt encouraged and supported to work beyond my comfort zone and came away from each class feeling that I had actually improved and extended myself as an artist.'
